EXPLANATORY TEXT

Mount Crean

Mount Crean (77°53'S 159°30'E) is one of the western most peaks in the Dry Valleys region. It is the highest and central-most summit of the Lashly Mountains.

A field party, conducting geological studies on Mount Crean, happened upon the specimen, which was lying in a small crack on the ridge leading to the summit during the 2000-2001 field season.

The specimen recovered from Mount Crean is given in the listing below.

Acknowledgments; Tim Culley contributed the Mount Crean meteorite specimen to the Antarctic collection.
