EXPLANATORY TEXT
Purgatory Peak
Purgatory Peak (76°21'S 162°18'E) is situated near
the eastern end of Victoria Valley. A single iron meteorite specimen was discovered
by Steve Kite while traversing the slopes along the southern flank of Purgatory
Peak. It was found in moraine about 600 meters from the Lower Victoria Glacier
(Cassidy, 1978).
The specimen recovered from Purgatory Peak is given in the listing
below.
