ANTARCTIC METEORITE LOCATION AND MAPPING PROJECT (AMLAMP)
EXPLANATORY TEXT

Graves Nunataks - North Graves East Icefield

Approximately 25 kilometers north of Graves Nunataks (86º43'S 141º30'W) lies a pair of isolated, moderaltely sized bare ice patches. We have referred to these as the Graves Nunataks - North Graves East Icefield and the Graves Nunataks - North Graves West Icefield. Ice flows over gentle escarpments westward into the Robison Glacier system. No nunataks or outcrops are in close proximity to the icefields.

In 2006-2007 an ANSMET field party visited the site for a reconnaissance search.  Despite very harsh weather conditons, the field team searched a large portion of the North Graves East Icefield. A total of 132 meteorites were recovered. An attempt to visit the North Graves West Icefield was repelled due to hazardous weather conditions.

GRA54-Table 1 is a tabulation of meteorite types from the Graves Nunataks - North Graves East Icefield.

Acknowledgments; The 2006-2007 ANSMET field party consisted of Lysa Chizmadia, Barb Cohen, Silvio Lorenzetti, and John Schutt.
